Clearly, PC’s are an essential toolfor knowledge workers, entrepreneurs and virtually everyone in justabout every line of work outside of sectors such as manufacturing andagriculture. The fact is, the sector is still strong, and in the U.S, almost flatyear over year for the quarter. These numbers arecertainly much different from a year ago, but if you take a step backand consider the economic realities, they could be a lot worse. In the US, a total of 15.3 million units in thefirst quarter of 2009, a 0.3 percent decline. Gartner says worldwide PC shipments declined 6.5 percent in firstquarter of 2009 with PC shipments in EMEA totaling 22.7 million units,a 10.2 percent drop. And “the mac” finds itself on the short end of the value proposition. In this economy it’s all about value for your dollar.
